Kaohsiung Wenshan District | Laminated Glass Daylighting Project

This project is located in a luxury residence in the Wenshan Special District of Kaohsiung. The scope of work includes an indoor atrium, a sliding skylight on the rooftop, large fixed windows, and a daylight canopy, all constructed using high-performance laminated glass. The glass offers excellent light transmittance, allowing natural daylight to enter and reducing electricity usage during the day. It also effectively blocks infrared and ultraviolet rays, minimizing indoor heat gain and protecting interior furnishings. The laminated structure provides superior sound insulation and enhanced safety, as it prevents glass shards from scattering when damaged, thereby improving overall residential quality and safety. With precise structural planning and well-executed waterproofing and edge finishing, the design delivers a bright, comfortable, and solid modern living space.
Kaohsiung Wenshan District | Laminated Glass Daylighting Project
Case Description

This project is located in a high-end residence in the Wenshan Special District of Kaohsiung City. In response to the homeowner’s emphasis on natural lighting and spatial quality, multiple laminated glass structures were designed and installed, including an indoor atrium, a rooftop sliding skylight, large fixed windows, and a daylight canopy. The client wished to bring in abundant natural light while avoiding issues such as overheating and furniture fading caused by intense sunlight. To meet these needs, high-performance laminated glass with energy-saving and protective features was selected, enhancing overall comfort and functionality. The design emphasizes the integration of natural light with architectural elements, allowing light to flow freely throughout the space and interact harmoniously with the structure, creating a bright, transparent, and inviting living environment.

The laminated glass used in this project features high light transmittance, effectively guiding natural daylight into the interior and reducing reliance on artificial lighting during the day, thereby achieving energy savings. Its special interlayer blocks infrared and ultraviolet rays, helping to lower indoor temperatures during the summer, improve air conditioning efficiency, and extend the lifespan of interior materials and furnishings. In addition, the laminated glass offers excellent sound insulation, effectively reducing noise from traffic and the urban environment to create a quiet, high-quality living space. In terms of safety, even if the glass is damaged by impact, the interlayer prevents shards from scattering, minimizing the risk of injury. Every aspect of the construction was carefully planned according to on-site conditions, ensuring that all joints, waterproofing details, and structural integrations are stable and reliable. This not only enhances the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space, but also fulfills the homeowner’s vision of a comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient residence.
